Start off in Italy’s capital, Rome, before making your way around the “boot” — all the way up to enchanting Venice, and right down to beautiful Sicily, where you’ll enjoy an excursion to Mount Etna and get to taste delicious local products at a Sicilian farm. By the end of this grand tour, Italy will hold no more secrets for you!

DAY 1: Toronto • Rome

Direct flight to Rome.


DAY 2:  Rome Arrive in Rome and transfer to your hotel. Spend the afternoon exploring the Eternal City at your leisure. In the evening, enjoy live music at your welcome dinner with wine. (D)


DAY 3: Rome Enjoy a guided full-day tour of the city, including the Vatican Museums (interior), Sistine Chapel (interior) and St. Peter’s

Basilica (interior). Then admire the Colosseum (exterior) and the Roman Forum (exterior). In the evening, you can take part in a Roman Highlights optional excursion ($). (BB)


DAY 4: Rome • Florence (320 km)

Depart for Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, where you’ll go on a walking tour of the city and discover its cathedral (exterior),

Giotto’s bell tower (exterior), Baptistery (with its famous doors), Piazza della Signoria and Basilica of Santa Croce. Stop at the Michelangelo Square for photos of the spectacular scenery. Then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. (BB/L)


DAY 5 Florence • Cinque Terre • Florence (170 km)

Discover by train the highlights of one of the most enchanting landscapes in the world. Suspended between sea and land, the five villages that make up Cinque Terre are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your journey begins at Riomaggiore, a village dating from the early

13th century, known for its historic charm and great wine. Later visit Manarola, and then continue to Monterosso, an ancient fishing village considered the pearl of the Cinque Terre. Overnight in Florence. (BB)


DAY 6 Florence • Venice (300 km)

After breakfast, depart for Venice, where you’ll enjoy a sightseeing tour of this unique and romantic city. Strolling through the ancient

calli (the narrow streets of Venice), you’ll reach the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square with its impressive basilica (exterior). (BB)


DAY 7: Venice • Verona • Lake Garda • Siena (480 km)

In the morning, depart for Verona, where you’ll enjoy a walking tour and discover its many historic buildings, such as Juliet’s House (with its famous balcony) and the Roman Theatre (exterior). Then it’s off to Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake. Admire the region’s breathtaking scenery and visit the charming town of Sirmione, located on a peninsula. See the ancient city centre, which can only be reached by foot via the bridge

through the Scaliger Castle. Head to Siena. (BB)


DAY 8 Siena • San Gimignano • Rome (320 km)

After breakfast, enjoy a walking tour of Siena. Discover the Duomo (exterior) and spectacular Piazza del Campo, where the famous Palio bareback horse race is held twice a year. Then continue to the hilltop town of San Gimignano, known as the Town of Medieval Towers, where you’ll visit a winery and enjoy a tasting of Chianti wines, accompanied by a light lunch. Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (BB)
